Oil and gas
The oil and gas industry is currently enjoying a period of expansion and increased exploration, with greater activity promoted by the high oil price. The UK remains a global centre for these activities, ranked the fourth largest gas producer and the tenth largest oil producer in the world. The industry is therefore vibrant at present, and we have excellent contacts with both candidates and companies.
Renewables
This remains a thriving sector thanks to the government’s commitment to this form of energy. Scotland is the main region for jobs in wind power, producing 48 per cent of the UK’s wind energy output. England however is more productive in energy generation terms thanks to its large number of biofuels projects. This type of energy use is increasing across the board, up 72 per cent from 2003 to 2006 for instance throughout the UK. Artemis is well placed in this job market.
Minerals and mining
The UK is supplying mining and minerals expertise to the rest of the world, particularly in Eastern Europe, Africa and Russia where western knowledge and experience is at a premium.
