Birmingham skyscraper construction job unveiled
December 2009
A UK property developer has unveiled plans to build one of the UK’s tallest skyscrapers in Birmingham.
Regal Property Group has submitted a planning application to Birmingham City Council to build the £125 million Regal Tower, which could create a number of construction jobs.
If granted permission, the tower will be the UK’s tallest building outside of London.
Roger Holbeche of Regal Property Group said: “The cutting edge design of Regal Tower has the potential to redefine Birmingham’s skyline and provide an iconic focal point to this strategic city gateway.
“The Big City Plan sets out a need for more tall buildings and we are proud to be responding to this with the Regal Tower application.”
According to developers, the property will be over 50 storeys high.
Designed by internationally recognised architects Aedas, the tower will house a luxury hotel complex, health and fitness facilities, restaurants and apartments.
Developers hope to commence construction work in 2010 and reach completion by 2013.
