Government seeks FM input on fire safety

December 2009

The government has called Facilities Managers to participate in a consultation exercise on changes to the National Occupational Standards for fire safety.

The sector skills council, Skills for Justice, which has responsibility for professional standards in fire safety, is updating their material to ensure that they are fit for purpose and reflect best practice.

Standards on fire risk assessments, the reporting of fire hazards, site visits by inspectors and fire protection systems have all been revised.

Fire safety practitioners and key stakeholders, including FMs, are wanted by the skills body, to examine the process and feed in their views by filling out the questionnaire.

Michelle Williams from Artemis Solutions Group who specialise in recruiting for the Facilities Management sector comments “I’m sure many Facilities managers will be able to make a useful contribution to the debate and I hope they are able to get in touch”.
