Pharmacies will be now rated by GP-rating website.
December 2009
A website is set to be launch in the new year(2010) which will allow patients to rate pharmacists’ level.
Patients are allowed to rate and write reviews about GPs, hospitals, nursing homes and medicines at iWantGreatCare.org. Plans are taken place to extend this to pharmacy and dentistry in the second week of January 2010.
The founder of the website, Neil Bacon said that “seven primary care trusts have already expressed an interest in receiving data about pharmacies in their area. This represents a shift in PCTs’ attitudes in commissioning from providers other than GPs”.
The website will not be used to start hate campaigns because it has a seven layered security system which will filter out malicious comments, added Dr Bacon.
The total success of the website depends on the number of people using it and rating healthcare providers. Dr Bacon agreed that this will take time. Milton Keynes PCT, who has recently signed a contract to track patients experiences of their GP care, refers patients to the website. However, a Milton Keynes PCT spokeswoman said that there are no plans to extend this to local pharmacies.
