Thousands of x-rays ‘unchecked’
December 2009
Finding 100,000 unprocessed x-rays in a hospital cupboard and whistle-blowing led to his being sacked, claimed a doctor.
Dr Otto Chan, lost his job in radiology department at the Royal London Hospital in 2006, as he advised an employment tribunal about the “hidden” x-rays. This would mean cancelled operations and missed appointments for people whose scans could not be found. London NHS Trust, however, claims Dr Chan, 52, was a troublemaker who had undermined management and had discord with several senior colleagues at the hospital.
